Evaluation 2

The role of a film distributor depends on how strong strategically the film is advertised. The media platform is diverse and is wide, so the film distributor has a variety of different advertising techniques and ways he can present the films idea around the area. There are many ways of advertising especially when distributing a product, in correlation to promotional techniques it is key that a film distributor includes all the information necessary for their promotion. The media will view the film idea and what release date it should have, by working with different advertising campaigns it will allow media platforms such as Youtube, Social Media Websites, Blogs and Billboards to advertise to the media product to the different audiences. An example is a recently modern film Guardians Of The Galaxy, as a known Marvel superhero group its main demographics are for males especially young boys who aspire to have superhero powers. As a general statistic around 25% of the Marvel fan base is 25% female. This doesn’t state that superhero comics and TV programmes interest the secondary older audience to include all ages to take interest. Recently movies has been increasing the age rating to around 15-18. This is because technology allows a better visual when the superhero’s fight showing their true power. Films such as Deadpool and Logan feature extremely gruesome and high expectations of gore, which are associated due to the characters personality. This new primary target audience has increased between 18-29 year olds, then followed up by their secondary audience 30-44 year old demographics. The attention and advertisement social media gets creates a franchise for the primary audience, which appeals obviously to the younger audience who interact with their mobile devices and desktop/laptops they own to provide themselves with. Whilst the secondary audience are generally focused of television advertisements and public transport, EG: Side of a Bus Banner. Overall there is a large mass of audience due to the Marvel franchise sky rocketing by their merchandise and constantly release of films with inclusive actors that deserve such a roll. An example of this is Benedict Cumberbatch. As he plays in TV series Sherlock but also features in many different films that surrounds the variety of target audiences it provides an iconic feature when he played Dr. Strange. A fitting role for an actor of his standards. The Imitation Game is a film back set in the World Wars which Benedict plays the main character, playing a character in a historical time who created the enigma machine especially captures the older audiences eye because it’s their history being shown and that they are proud of interesting the audience into the Marvel Franchise by having an actor who has played in a film they might have liked. Film Distributors mainly focus on what their target audience wants to see, and they hear what the audience wants for the next film that releases. In linking research side and crucial evidence.

Actors such as Johnny Depp creates his iconic Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates And The Caribbean. But as known for many other films and his lady killer charms in previous films, there is a large fan base around Johnny Depp ranging from 16-32 famous for his Nightmare In Elm Street. As a star in general but iconic for Pirates And The Caribbean film distributors show Johnny Depp in such a low age rating at 12 although it includes fighting and blood. This allows younger fans who are extremely young to watch Johnny Depp in a historical role and seemingly become very popular. By doing this Johnny Depp visited hospitals in the role of Jack Sparrow cheering them up and increasing their morale. More Social Media based advertisement was Kevin Harts and Dwayne Johnson’s Central Intelligence, they put themselves through interviews, to interact and create a strong relationship with their fans before the release of their movie, they also posted snapchats of them arguing whilst also including a lot of historical and funny videos onto Facebook and twitter pages to constantly keep the audience on the hype for the film making sure they don’t forget urging them to see it.
